Amendments to the (FRCP) Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (AIIM Whitepaper):
The Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (FRCP) govern civil procedure in the
United States district courts. New amendments to the Federal Rules of Civil
Procedure address the discovery of electronically stored information. On
April 12, 2006, the Supreme Court of the United States approved and
forwarded these amendments to Congress, and take effect on December 1, 2006.
Certain revisions to the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure address the
preservation and discovery of data in electronic media, also known as
e-Discovery.
Archives, Backups and Disaster Recovery: Lines of Distinction:
This SNIA tutorial explains the differences between backup, disaster
recovery and archiving as well as solution requirements for an archive.
ILM: Tiered Storage and the Need for Classification:
A SNIA tutorial on two very important aspects of an ILM strategy, tiered storage and data classification. It will focus on organizing your tiers of storage based on your needs and a few meta classification techniques using tools and techniques available today.

The Long Term Fate of Our Digital Belongings: Toward a Service Model for
Personal Archives:
A whitepaper based on a preliminary field study to understand the current
state of personal digital archiving in practice. Our aim is to design a
service for the long-term storage, preservation, and access of digital
belongings by examining how personal archiving needs intersect with existing
and emerging archiving technologies, best practices, and policies.
REDEFINING THE DATA ARCHIVE: The Case for Active Archiving
Generating enormous amounts of data is easy. How to store the data
requires some thought, though, because of the changing nature of data. The
choices are less straightforward today.
Object Storage: The Future Building Block for Storage Systems:
A position paper surveying the latest developments in the area of object store technology specifically focusing on the area of standardization, research prototypes, and technology adoption and deployment.
DISCUSSION: We invite you to participate in a
discussion
on XAM, a new standard intended to revolutionize the way we look at CAS. Does this standard make sense? Will you deploy it? We'd like to hear your thoughts... We'll also be happy to forward any questions you might have on the subject to our friends at SNIA. |

Addressing Organizational eDiscovery and eRetention Management Compliance
Challenges
This paper proposes a ten step methodology for addressing organizational
eDiscovery and eRetention management compliance challenges.
Best Practices - 10 points to consider before deploying an e-mail archive:
10 points to consider before deploying an e-mail archive. Selecting an
e-mail archiving application based solely on functionality may result in
unexpected administration costs. As storage shops implement e-mail
archiving, many of them are confronting issues related to a company's
vertical industry or the capabilities/maturity of the IT organization and
its e-mail user community. The best practices presented here--which are
focused on archiving for Microsoft Exchange--will ease some implementation,
operational and maintenance concerns.
Frequently asked questions about Instant Messaging:
Some common questions concerning Instant Messaging (IM), detailing everything from what it is to the regulation and recording of instant messages.
DISCUSSION: A Computerworld Opinion 2007 article states
"2007 is the year for a data storage career". Check out the latest
CAS and Storage Related postings in our forums. Employers, feel free
to post relevant openings. |
